Theological Focus

Reformation Day commemorates the ongoing renewal of the Church by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. It is a celebration of the Gospel-discovery that we are justified by grace through faith, a truth that continually calls the church back to its true center in Jesus Christ.

Scriptural Connection

In John 8, the scriptures remind us that the truth sets us free—not for self-indulgence, but for service. In a modern world often obsessed with self-justification and merit, the message of sola gratia offers a radical liberation from the need to prove our worth to God or society.

Sermon Ideas

Focus on the theme of always reforming (ecclesia semper reformanda). How is the Spirit calling the local congregation to shed outdated structures to better serve the Gospel today? Preach on the courage required to trust in grace alone when the world demands works.
