Theological Focus

Following the Baptism of the Lord, the Epiphany season unfolds the nature of Christ’s kingdom through the Sermon on the Mount, revealing the radical ethical dimensions of the light that has come into the world. It is a call to live as citizens of a different kind of kingdom, characterized by mercy, purity of heart, and a hunger for justice.

Scriptural Connection

In Matthew 5, Jesus calls his followers the 'salt of the earth' and the 'light of the world.' This text moves the Epiphany theme from passive observation to active participation; we are called to reflect the light we have received and to preserve the goodness of the world through our distinct way of life.
