Theological Focus

The Second Sunday in Lent deepens our journey toward the cross. It is a time for sobering reflection on what it means to follow Jesus when the path leads through suffering and self-denial. The season calls us to move beyond superficial faith into a transformative commitment to the way of Christ.

Scriptural Connection

In Mark 8, Jesus clarifies the nature of his messiahship and the requirements for his followers. To take up the cross is a radical call to reorient our lives away from self-interest and toward the kingdom. This scripture challenges us to lose our lives for the sake of the Gospel to truly find them.
