Lectionary Meaning

Theological Focus

The sovereignty of God is inextricably linked to the pursuit of justice. This Sunday highlights the divine expectation that those in power—and indeed the whole community—must protect the vulnerable and uphold the rights of the poor as a reflection of God’s own character.
