Theological Focus

The first Sunday of Lent leads us into the wilderness, mirroring Christ’s forty days of testing. It is a season for stripping away distractions to face our vulnerabilities and rely solely on the sustaining power of God’s Word and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Scriptural Connection

Mark 1 depicts Jesus being driven by the Spirit into the wild. This reminds us that the spiritual life involves struggle and confrontation with the wild beasts of our own hearts, yet we are never beyond the reach of God’s care and the ministry of grace.
